Training
Training is important. It's learning the skills that will improve your
chances of getting a foot on the ladder to success. There are many ways to
get trained. Pick up any copy of The Stage and you will find many courses on
offer from most of the premier stage schools in the country. They do tend,
however, to be expensive and not therefore accessible to all.
There are academic routes to training, such as taking a college degree or
diploma in Acting. Bretton Hall for example has a superb reputation. Many
Antic Mind actors have come through its doors - all of them with excellent
skills.
Training does not have to be at such a high level. There are many theatre
schools for young people, many state schools offer GCSE, A Level and BTEC
drama courses. It can also be done on local night courses.
One of the most important places where training takes place is on the job.
