Bullying and Drugs Awareness

‘Play in a Day’ workshops take an eager group of students and get them to rehearse and perform an abridged version of the play in a single school day. It is a highly creative and work intensive day in which the students will learn a great deal about the SATs play you are studying with the added benefit of a performance to the rest of the year group at the end of the day.

There are a number of options available for schools. We can produce an abridged version of the play or work on all or some of the set scenes. We can also provide a ‘Play in Two Days’ workshop, giving the students the chance to explore the text in greater depth.

Play in A Day workshops allow a whole range of possibilities: modern or traditional interpretations, producing the original scripts or getting students to devise a performance based on the original. They also allow other students to get involved with creating set, costumes, sound and lighting effects as well as working on other projects. The choice is yours.

Antic Mind, has developed a set of intensive two hour workshops focusing on the set scenes for the Key Stage 3 SATs. Through role-play and with the expert guidance of experienced directors and actors, students are given the opportunity to explore the scenes by taking part in the action, giving them the experience of using language, voice, movement and gesture. This kind of workshop is highly successful in giving students the ability to comprehend characters' motivations and actions from a personal perspective.

Tailor made to your needs, our two hour workshops on bullying and drugs awareness are designed to use role play, improvisation and forum theatre to  help students be aware of the consequences of bullying and drugs and also how to cope with situations where they are at risk.

Best done in smaller groups with a 'hands on' approach.

Creative Partnerships with schools

“This year group have gained more from this performance than last year's group who saw a full length production at West Yorkshire Playhouse!  Focus was on exactly what students need in preparation for their exams"

Antic Mind also offer workshops on Sexual Health and Race Relations similar in nature to our workshops on Bullying and Drugs. These cab be tailored to suit the individual requirements of your school.

All our workshops are run by experienced theatre practitioners and workshop leaders who have undergone relevant CRB checks.
